Coloured Wristbands
The guidelines state that ONLY white or red bands should be used.
White should be used for most patients with red being used to warn clinicians of particular needs or hazards relevant to specific patients.
Where a RED band is used text should still be entered against a WHITE background.
Amba’s Precision Sentry Red (Plain) or Amba Precision Sentry Red NPSA (pre-printed) bands will help to facilitate compliance.
Note: Hospitals with Existing Colour-Coding Systems
Many hospitals have local colour-coding systems which staff rely upon to indicate particular hazards or warnings such as allergies.
These systems are discouraged by the Guidelines. Amba understands that a number of customers may have local risk management policies under which they would prefer to continue to use their local colour coding protocols or indeed continue with colour coding as part of a transitional arrangement whilst working toward full implementation of the guidelines.
Amba will continue to make colour coded bands available to existing customers for the foreseeable future.
